This one is so much fun as the recipient because it’s filled with confetti and you get to shake it all around as you try to figure out what’s inside! (careful not to wrap something fragile when doing confetti wrapping!) All you have to do is wrap your gift as normal (I used my handy brown paper) and then wrap it again (not super tightly) with cellophane (I found at a craft store like Michael’s), leaving one side open to […]
Last carving of the season for me! This time our monogram, a lovely scripty M for the porch! Hope no one smashes it this weekend! Little peeking kitties!
It’s that time of year again! Time to fill the house with various sized pumpkins to add a little fall color til they rot! I’ve never been one to love the process of carving all the way through, and felt so limited by my lack of upper body strength, so this shallow carving is perfect for me! Here’s the first set, and hopefully there will be more. Enjoy! Do you spy the little kitty hiding behind that pumpkin??
My husband’s birthday was last week, and he tends to enjoy experiences over tactile gifts, so I thought I’d try to lean into that more this year and surprise him with a day-trip to Chattanooga, which is about 2 hours away. This event was a good enough excuse to practice more hand-lettering, which has interested me lately, so I went a little overboard designing the reveal in the card I made. Overboard or not, I’m proud and he was totally […]
I love all things woodgrain, so when I went through a phase of carving stamps, it was only natural to incorporate a woodgrain pattern. I had fun carving and hand-printing them, and made a few sets using both white & black ink on craft paper gift tags I bought from Hobby Lobby.
I grew up with a sister whose birthday is New Year’s Eve, so she, like many December/Jan babies, always felt gypped when it came to a special celebration in the midst of Christmas and NYE celebrations. Because of that she always insisted that her gifts not be wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper, which is totally fair. Anyway, since I’ve been wrapping most of my gifts in craft paper late rather than traditional paper, it’s a lot easier lately to skew […]
Now that we’ve started a new year, I’ve been able to complete a year long project I’ve been dedicated to for 2013. Last year I downloaded the 1SE app (1 Second Everyday), which allowed you to record and mash together one second of video or photo each day. The app cuts you off so you literally only have 1 second to show. It was an interesting challenge as 1 second never felt like enough time to capture what I wanted, […]
I like to get those cheap tree picks and other little decor items from places like Michael’s and JoAnn’s and use them for various gift toppers. They’re pretty cheap on their own, but the closer it gets to Christmas, the cheaper they get! This is one of those simple things with twine pulling from each direction and the name cut out like holly leaves.
